Extension and garage conversion to a detached villa in North Belfast. Space was at a premium and the garden was unstable, back–filled land. The solution was to connect with and adapt the garage as additional living space.  A corner window projects from the existing kitchen to claim new views to the docks and Castlereagh Hills on the far side of the city while catching the last rays of sunlight before it sets behind Cavehill. From this a lead–dressed canopy provides sheltered external space, supported by a single cast in–situ concrete column.
